Jerusalem:
-Capitol City of Judah
-Seven “Mountains”
-Fortified Walls
-Solomon’s Temple
-King’s Residence
-Becomes a symbol
Zion:
-Jebusite stronghold
-City of David
-Temple Mountain
-Western hill (current day). Josephus declared it “City of David”-disproven by archaeology in recent years
-Synonymous with Jerusalem as a whole-heart of the meaning and significance, epitome of what it represents in God’s heart and history of redemption in His Word. In prophetic manner, this terminology of “Zion” extends into the future, encompassing the gathering of the nations.
