Called to Suffer Like Christ

June 12, 2022 Speaker: Chris Greer Series: 1 Peter: Following Jesus as Exiles

Topic: Sermons Passage: 1 Peter 2:21, John 15:18– 16:4

We are called to suffer like our Lord Jesus suffered. It is not just that you will suffer, but also how we ought to suffer in order to be like Christ our example.
Life is to be lived in the footsteps (“follow me”) of the one who has already blazed that trail, suffering at the hands of evil men, as an example for us.

What are ways we suffer in this time and place where we aren’t often physically assaulted for Christ?
-Spiritual warfare
-Slander/Insults/ostracism
-Losing your job
-Cultural Pressure (bigots, racist, homophobe)
-Mistreated by Christians, not appreciated

Can the world hate you (John 7:7), or are you too much like the world to be hated by them?
