The Lord has made the covenant with Levi as priests perpetual and repeats his desire to continue that covenant in 2:4. Being a priest is about having access to and offering service for the Lord. In the New Covenant, we as Christians are priests, fulfilling this perpetual covenant with Levi, with access to God and authority from God to proclaim his excellencies.
