Apostle means “sent messenger”, an official envoy commissioned to represent the one who sent them on a specific mission
The 12 Foundational Apostles (Acts 1:16-26) are commonly acknowledged, but are there any Apostles today? There is no compelling biblical arguments that exclude Apostles in our day, but most examples who take the title are not doing an Apostle’s work. The most important thing is whether or not the spiritual leader is functioning well, according to the biblical description, NOT whether they are called the right title.
