In the Scriptures, light is used metaphorically/symbolically for:
1. Psalm 27:1. God's saving presence.
2. 1 John 1:5. God's holiness, righteousness, and purity.
3. Psalm 119:11. Word of God as a guide to his people.
4. Isaiah 49:6. God's Servant.
5. John 8:12. Jesus Himself, "the light of life"
6. John 12:35-36. Jesus as the Light of the World; revealing his salvation
7. Luke 2:25-32. Jesus as the revelation of salvation for all peoples.
8. Matt 5:13. Christians as light of the world; Christian holiness and witness to the world.
