Family relationships are a precious reality in Christ, full of tender love and peace.
1. Family ties in the gospel - my son Mark. Peter had a close, fatherly relationship to Mark
2. Family affection in the gospel - greet with kiss of love. Sincere warm greeting, coming from a heart of love. Holy kiss in 4 other places from Paul (Rom 16:16, 1 Cor 16:20, 2 Cor 13:12, 1 Thes 5:26). What is our cultural expression of affection? Perhaps it’s a hug for us; sincere, warm greetings. What is the heart behind it? How do you feel when you see your brethren… is it a heart full of love?
3. True peace in the gospel - peace be to you. Inward peace for all saints. How do we lose our peace? Overwhelmed, worry/anxious, forget sovereign God, fixating on our failures
