Pixels of Love 1: Be Harmonious (Like-Minded)

November 13, 2022 Speaker: Chris Greer Series: 1 Peter: Following Jesus as Exiles

Topic: Sermons Passage: 1 Peter 3:8–9

Peter gives 5 pixels of love in the body of Christ
-Harmonious/Like-Minded
-Sympathetic
-Brotherly
-Kind-Hearted
-Humble in Spirit

All adjectives that ought to describe and characterize us as believers in the church

Harmonious / Like-minded: the minds of Christ’s people, the way we think and live, are principally the same. We share a common mindset about who we are, our purpose, mission, and how we go about these things.

How is it achieved?
-Truth: the Bible as the holy scriptures are our exclusive, authoritative and sufficient source for truth, common to us all. There should be harmony of belief amongst believers with this common source of truth.
-Common Mission: gospel of Christ is everything, Phil 1:27 one spirit & mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel
-Love: Phil 2:1-3 if… make my joy complete by maintaining the same love; 1 Cor 13:1-8 noisy going without love; Rev 2:1-6 Ephesus “left your first love”

Obstacles to Harmony:
-Selfishness
-Theological Error/Wrong doctrine/False teaching with lack of correction
-Personal conflict and offense
-Apathy and neglect
-Loose living with regard to sin & lack of dealing with sin in the camp (church discipline, "a little leaven leaven’s the whole lump")
-When your giftings become a means of judging others; same spirit different gifts & works
