This epistle to Timothy is from Apostle to a pastor or another leader on how one ought to conduct himself in the church of Jesus Christ in order to be faithful ministers of the gospel and members in the body of Christ.
God desires that we pray for authorities so that we may have peace so that we can live for the Lord in all godliness and dignity, ultimately hoping and striving for all men to be saved according to the desire of God. Right now we are free-we better be taking advantage of it in all godliness to preach and witness to the glory and grace of God in the gospel.
- Urgency of prayer-“I urge you”
- Priority of prayer-“first of all”
- Aspects of prayer-“entreaties, prayers, petitions, thanksgivings”
- Focus of prayer-“on behalf of all men... all those who are in authority”
- Why we pray-“so we may live tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity”
- Goal of prayer-“all men to be saved” (“I do all things for the sake of the gospel”)
