The greatness of Melchizedek is shown in Abraham, to whom the promises is given, giving a tenth of all the spoils to him and being blessed by Melchizedek. This eternal priesthood that Jesus fulfills is one of the foundational truths that the new covenant is built upon in the book of Hebrews.
