Melchizedek, King and Priest

June 21, 2020 Speaker: Steve Cowden Series: Abraham: A Picture of Discipleship

Topic: Sermons Passage: Genesis 14:17–19, 1 Timothy 2:5

Melchizedek was the King of Salem (peace, Jerusalem), Priest of God Most High. His name meant "King of Righteousness" [Melek-Sadiq= King of Righteousness], and he functioned both as a King and Priest.
Priest is a mediator between God and people. He represent the people to God and God to the people.
Peace and righteousness go together-you cannot have peace without righteousness.
Melchizedek, a real historical person who was a priest and king, is a type and figure of Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of all the Old Testament types, shadows, scriptures, covenants, and promises.
