Because we have eternal life in Jesus, we can have confidence before Him, in his very presence, in prayer. He encourages us to ask God according to His will, and he will hear and answer.
What is God's will? His will can be found in His Word, the scriptures. What he has promised, commanded, and desires in us, we can pray for these things and He will hear and answer!
God has ordained to accomplish his will in the earth through our prayers.
