Heartfelt forgiveness is enabled and required by the gospel. It is more than lipservice, but a sincere attitude of tender-hearted compassion that Christians ought to have toward one another.
Forgiveness is conditional & inexhaustible.
Here is what heartfelt forgiveness practically entails:
-Honest admission of guilt on the part of the offender.
-Heartfelt plea for pardon and promise not to repeat the wrong in the future
-Reconciliation should be sought by the offended and the offender
-Offended agrees to not to bring it up again
