NCCF VBS 2014

 

General Information

Date: June 11 -13th with Sunday Finale and lunch on the 15th

Time: 6pm to 8pm (Check-in opens at 5:45 and Opening Rally begins at 6pm
Theme: Medieval Times/Official Theme TBA
Ages: K4 - 8th grade

 Volunteer Roles Needed

We need your help to have a successful VBS! Vacation Bible School is a great way to evangalize to children and their parents.

Please read over the volunteer roles and responsibilities and post below where you can help out. Please post your first and second choices.

Let us know ASAP if you are willing and able to fill one or more of the roles below. Cut off for volunteering is Sunday April 20th.



Group Leaders/Teachers: (8 total - 2 for each Group: K4-K5, 1-2, 3-5, 6-8) Filled

 Responsibilities:

  1. Receive, review, prayerfully familiarize yourself with curriculum materials before the start of VBS

  2. Arrive early with needed materials for Bible Study time (curriculum, Bible, any extra tools that you think may enhance the lesson - communicate with Coordinators prior to using)

  3. Be dressed in clothing that:

    1. coordinates with group’s individual theme/color

    2. represents modesty

  4. Obtain schedule and clipboard from Greeting Station

  5. Welcome and meet children in designated age group area.

  6. Manage logistic and behavioral dynamics of group - travelling, talking, discipline when needed, etc.

  7. Get to know kids and participate with them in activities

  8. Prepare and lead Bible study on the nightly theme with provided curriculum

  9. Pre-plan presentation ideas and lead group in preparing a theme-related skit/song/etc. for one of the Closing Rallies and the Sunday Morning presentation


Greeters/Registering/Heralds (1-2 People) Filled

 Responsibilities:

  1. Obtain the registry supplies needed from Organizers.

  2. Arrive early each evening.

  3. Greeting Station will be located under breezeway unless weather is inclement.

  4. Welcome children and parents and have parents fill out the sign-in sheet while a name tag is placed on child. Indicate relevant allergies by placing a heart sticker on name tag.

  5. Direct children and parents to the Rally Room.

  6. Be sure parents sign children out as they return to pick-up.

  7. Be prepared to fill-in as needed during the night, but be at Greeting Station at the appropriate times.

  8. As the “Heralds”: Alert groups to rotation times.

 

Dramatic Team (2-5 people)

 Responsibilities:

  1. Dress in theme appropriate attire

  2. Arrive early to help greet children

  3. Open/Close the rally time with greetings/important information

  4. Plan and Participate any in opening/closing skits

  5. Circulate through areas and alert groups to rotation times


Games Supervisor and Helper (2 People) Filled

 Responsibilities

  1. Plan age appropriate games for each evening. This may require planning different games for some of the different age groups.

  2. Put together a list of items needed for games and give to Organizers.

  3. Obtain materials from Organizers and double check to be sure no last minute items are required.

  4. Arrive early to set up game stations.

  5. Lead groups in participating in the game. Teachers will be present for additional help if needed.

  6. Clean up and prepare game station for the following day.

  7. After VBS organize materials and return to Organizers.


*Game suggestions: Joust, foam sword fight, extinguish the dragon(sling shot game), archery type game

 

Snack Supervisor and Helper (2 People) Filled

 Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and purchase materials for appropriate snack choices for each night (communicate plans to coordinators before purchasing)

    1. Age appropriate and appealing

    2. Easy to Prepare/Hand-out

    3. Cost-Effective

    4. Reasonably Healthy

  2. Be on-site early to prepare/make sure all preparations are going smoothly

  3. Have accurate number of snacks prepared and placed in snack room for each group

  4. Clean up all materials and prepare for next night

  5. Re-package any re-usable extras and store in the appropriate areas in kitchen/pantry.



Music Supervisor: (1 Person) Filled

 Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Coordinators to chose songs that fit the VBS theme and rally-time purposes.

  2. Obtain song copies and communicate with Technology supervisor to be sure PowerPoints are made, timing for songs, etc.

  3. Lead large group in songs at the beginning and ending of each night.
       

 

Technology Supervisor: (1 Person) Filled

 Responsibilities

  1. Communicate with Coordinators and Music Supervisor to establish plans for all technology to be used during VBS.

  2. Arrive early to be sure all systems are working properly and are prepared for the evening.

  3. Run music and PowerPoint during Rallies.

 

Craft Supervisor and Helper: (2 People) Still need helper

 Responsibilities:

  1. Plan craft activities that are:

    1. Age/Developmentally Appropriate

    2. Coordinate with the nights Biblical Theme

    3. Cost-Effective

    4. Reasonably simple to prepare

  2. Communicate ideas to Coordinators

  3. Create a list of needed materials for supply person (Caroline Schell)

  4. Organize and prepare materials as they will be required for each night

  5. Create a trial run/ example craft to use for demonstration

  6. Arrive early each night to be sure crafts are all in order

  7. Lead groups in assembling/creating their crafts

  8. Clean up area afterwards and prepare for following day

  9. Attempt to make sure all crafts get with their designated children

 *Suggestions: Armor, (sword, shield, helmet, breastplate, belt, shoes), homemade catapult,  swimming noodle horses, bow and arrows.



Decorating Team (as many people as possible)


Responsibilities:

  1. Help Coordinators plan decorations

  2. Complete “at-home” projects for decorations with provided materials

  3. Help with “at-church building” decorating on specified work days prior to VBS

  4. Help with tear down on specified days following VBS

 *If you are willing to do “at-home” projects please let Caroline or Angel know.

 
*Team members will be able to function in other VBS roles as well since all decorating/tear down will occur before and after the actual VBS nights.


Emergency Responders (1-2 People) Filled

 Responsibilities:

  1. Be available for first-aid response to injuries, sickness, etc.

  2. Communicate any incidents to Organizers and alert them if parents should be called.

  3. Be prepared to lead in any safety procedures due to unforeseen threats or weather emergencies.

  4. Be prepared to give temporary help in other areas if not otherwise engaged.

I will go where I am needed! Probably as a 1-2 teacher. I finally got my summer schedule and I can help! Thanking the Lord for His timing :)

We would like to do games. Marty is fully committed and Logan will help as much as baby allows.

We can lead a group. Any age is good. Also, I can help decorate.
